Competition Law and Public Procurement

Competition law

Thommessen is a leader in competition law in Norway.

We regularly assist clients in cases concerning potential breaches of Norwegian competitionlaw and EU/EEA competitionrules.

Our lawyers regularly represent clients in cases concerning the review of decisions made by the competition authorities in Norway and Brussels in such matters. We also assist in cases concerning damages resulting from breaches of competition rules.

We have in-depth knowledge of the substantive competition rules, extensive experience with the specific evidential challenges such cases present, and practical experience of how cases are handled in the client’s best interests before the Competition Appeals Board, Norwegian courts, the EFTA Court and the Court of First Instance of the European Union.

Competition cases are often highly complex, and Thommessen’s project model is a key element of our work on these cases.

Public procurement

Thommessen has an extensive practice in public procurement.

We regularly assist contracting authorities and tenderers in cases heard by the Complaints Board for Public Procurement and the ordinary courts, both in relation to interim relief where a tenderer wishes to halt a procurement process, and in compensation cases.

Our broad experience across various sectors and industries provides us with the best possible foundation to contribute effectively to such cases, taking into account the commercial and other factors at play in each individual case.

Thommessen’s litigation department and our project model ensure an efficient workflow and a predictable framework for clients, both in terms of the effective and swift handling of injunction cases and in terms of costs.
